This program prepares students for medical transcription positions (at-home
or in a facility or office) by providing a comprehensive background in medical
transcription.
The course is taught by a Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT).
The
Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI), formerly the American Association for Medical Transcription
(AAMT) offers the CMT examination.
Cost for this 18-lesson (144-hour) course: $1295 plus book costs

Medical Transcription students will receive instruction in the following areas:
- Transcribing six+ hours of authentic physician dictation, including office chart
notes in various formats, letters, initial office evaluations, history and physicals,
consultations, operative reports, and discharge summaries
- Eleven medical specialties
- AAMT Book of Style Guidelines
- Grammar and punctuation
- Proofreading
- Employment information
PREREQUISITE:
Central
Business School's Medical Terminology Certificate Program or equivalent
knowledge or experience is required.
Central Business School's Human
Anatomy Certificate Program is strongly recommended.
EQUIPMENT NECESSARY:
1. A computer with word
processing software and USB port is required to complete the
dictation.
2. A wave pedal is required to complete the dictation
and is included with the book package.
3. Internet access and email.
4. A quiet study room or
office.
