Mackinac Island, Michigan--A personal view of The Grand Hotel on
Mackinac Island in Michigan's Upper Peninsula in October refreshes the
spirit. It's a gentle time to visit the world-class Grand Hotel
island resort for a little pampering, resting, and preparing for the
long Upper Michigan winter ahead.
Last weekend I journeyed from Marquette to St. Ignace, where I boarded
the Arnold Transit Co. "Cat" for two days of luxury at Mackinac Island's
Grand Hotel.

The
quick ferry ride from St. Ignace to Mackinac Island
brings views of The Grand Hotel (above right),
Fort Mackinac (below left), and the Arnold Dock (below right). |

The Grand Hotel carriage
transports guests
to and from the docks and other island locations. |

Every part of The Grand
Hotel experience is breathtaking, including...only just the beginning...
the Grand Lobby (above left), and The Tea Room (above right). |

Entering the heavenly
Woodfill Suite...
Next week stay tuned for a tour of the entire Woodfill Suite and
others
--including the Esther Williams suite--
with Grand Hotel Historian and Concierge, Bob Tagatz |
