CUSSA J3-J4 Racers Carving Up
Marquette Mountain Today
Saturday, February 23, 2008

Marquette, Michigan--Central United States Ski Association (CUSSA) Junior Olympic Qualifier racing events at Marquette Mountain today brought thrilling action for everyone involved.

Watching the fastest J3/J4 racers in the Midwest carving up giant slalom courses made the chairlift ride go really fast for we "regular" riders.  A lot of neck twisting was going on.

Today was the busiest day we've seen at the Mountain this year.  Every parking lot was jammed full, with vehicles squeezed in every possible space, from the "Gwinn lot" (far left below), way over to "Cal's" lot (not pictured).

It was a beautiful, sunny day, with hill conditions excellent all around.

At the top of Cliffs Ridge, from the Francine Malindzak Start Gate, racers jumped off continuously all day.

The CUSSA Junior Olympic Qualifier big spectator events took place Thursday through today at Marquette Mountain.  The hills were filled from top to bottom with racers, families, and fans.

With countless runs available at MM, even with this huge event, we found plenty of space to enjoy a beautiful day of skiing.

Skiing, riding chairlifts up mountains, watching incredibly talented and powerful CUSSA racers competing, all at the same time: Heavenly Winter Wonderland!

It was sunbathing weather on the chairlift today, even with temps in the 20s. What a great day for the CUSSA Junior Olympic Qualifier Events at Marquette Mountain -- another "must not miss" Upper Peninsula yearly event.

We're hearing sunny again and 30's for tomorrow...better get there early if you don't want to be out in the Gwinn lot...ski ya!
