Marquette, Michigan--One of the best havens in Marquette to enjoy a delicious hot sandwich--especially on a rainy day before last Friday's NMU Homecoming Parade--isThe Italian Place and New York Deli on Front Street.

In the historic Harlow Building at the heart of Downtown Marquette--just up from the corner of Front and Washington Streets--The Deli grills up tender corned beef like nowhere else.

Every detail--down to the tasty coleslaw and puckery pickle--makes The Deli experience one you will crave and repeat on a regular basis.

My husband,Todd--forever the vegetarian--enjoys The Contemporary: a vegi cheesy delight on dark rye, topped with Roma tomatoes and real avocado.

After relaxing atThe Deli last Friday afternoon, Todd and I head for a front yard party at Terry and Woo Goff's Chic Salon on Third Street, to celebrate Northern Michigan University's 2007 Homecoming Parade.

Crowds await--groups of people in front of every house--as we join Terry and Woo's eager party.

The skies clear just before takeoff. Terry and Woo's little guy, Lewis--with pom-pom friends--leads the cheering!

Here comes the Parade!
