Northern
Michigan--Tim Teklinski proudly wears his team's dog tag after a great
game--the last football game of the season for Tim--in Traverse City
last Saturday. Tim's Uncle Pat O'Sullivan traveled from Bloomfield
Hills in Lower Michigan for the excitement. Uncle Todd Carter
and I--Tim's Aunt Mikey--traveled from Marquette to watch Tim and his
team play.

Tim
cherishes his team dog tag. And...one of the mothers at the game
came around collecting $10 from each parent for end-of-year trophies for
each player.
So...where
do all of these popular dog tags and trophies come from?
One
solution is QuickTrophy, an International Internet Company--with 24-hour
in-house turnaround time--located right here in our own backyard.
Terry
Dehring, Owner of QuickTrophy, located at 446 E. Crescent Street in
Marquette, MI, took time from his busy production schedule to show me
around his shop last Monday. Terry said, "Nobody around here knows about us
because we don't have a retail store. We're different than a
trophy shop that has a web site. We're a trophy web site that has a shop."
I first visited QuickTrophy in 2001 as a
Better Business Bureau representative during approval process for QuickTrophy to join
the BBB Online Reliability program. Back then, QuickTrophy
comprised a few offices, one small production room, and three
employees.
Today, QuickTrophy
employs 21 people and fills up
the entire building of its same location on East Crescent Street.
Most locals will recognize Lake Superior peeking through the background

"People
love the dog tags," said Terry, as we walked through the production
area and watched employees in action.
"Football season--right now--is the busiest time of
year for us," Terry explained. "May and June are also very busy
with spring sports."
When
ordering tags, trophies, nameplates, etc., Terry said people ask for: "Exactly the same
as I had last year, only different."
Terry said the QuickTrophy web
sites are constantly changing and improving to provide new items and
ease of use.
According
to Terry: "From the customer's point of view: 'Don't make
me think!'"
Terry
talked about Google, web design, and how to avoid technical
jargon the customer won't understand--terms like screen-printing, hot
stamping, and imprinting--for QuickTrophy. "You have to think
like your customer," Terry advises. |

QuickTrophy has expanded from just one web site in 2001 to many
today, including:

QuickNameTags.com
